Orthodox Life in Montreal

The ‘Ghetto Shul’, is an Orthodox synagogue that also offers weekly learning, activities, and fundraisers. Additionally, Chabad also has a strong presence on campus with events and weekday programming. OU-JLIC offers many opportunities for learning, social events, and Shabbat and Holiday programming.

Hillel at Montreal

Hillel Montreal is dedicated to furthering Jewish Continuity. We support and facilitate student initiatives that promote Jewish values. We have an open-door policy with no membership requirement. Encouraging grassroots programming, we provide University and CEGEP (Collège d’enseignement général et professionnel) students opportunities to volunteer, develop leadership skills, and contribute to maintaining Montreal’s active, vibrant and diverse Jewish community. Shabbat on Montreal Campuses

Throughout the school year, Hillel Montreal hosts weekly Shabbat services every second Friday night at the Jack Reitman Hillel House. We operate on an inclusive basis and everyone is welcome to attend.

Three communities under one roof. We respect the diversity of beliefs and practices within the Jewish community. By offering three simultaneous yet individual services in the same building, we are able to meet the diverse needs of the student population. Overseen by Rabbi Moshe Farkas, Religious Life Interns lead services for three prayer communities: Traditional Sephardic, Reform  and Kolot Rabbim (Traditional Egalitarian). At the conclusion of the evening, the students from all three services come together for a sponsored Shabbat dinner.

Kosher Food at Montreal Campuses

Hillel Cafe dishes out the best food on Campus every weekday except for holidays. With student friendly prices and food that doesn’t compromise, it’s no wonder that Yoel’s is the destination of choice for the food savvy in downtown Montreal.

The delicious menu, augmented by the daily specials, is a combination of standard favourites and Mediteranean staples. So stop eating that mass produced cafeteria “food” or that overpriced café “cuisine.” Come to Yoel’s for good eats and a friendly smile.

Yoel’s is located at the ground floor of the Hillel House: 3460 Stanley Street between Sherbrooke and Dr. Penfield.
